But you by no means need to follow the experts route, take some time to see what you have around the house, anything from the pails with the bottoms cut out to yoga matts with claps. You can normally pound the sand within those forms with your feet, or a flat weight.

But there's not a wrong or right way until you go "professional," but the best way to learn is through trial and error. So get out there and move some sand!
